I feel that “guilt” as our mind labels it is actually a specific set of hormone releases + brain signals that create a powerful feeling.

Considering that we are in animal vessels…think about this — if a mama lion never felt any sort of “pull” towards her cubs, they would die. She feels compelled to feed them, clean them, protect them, etc. These are instinctual drives that ensure that life continues on Earth.

We are not separate from these very same instinctual drives. Our bodies release timed hormones and we experience very specific brain signals that ensure that we care for our little ones.

There is a natural and purposeful reason why you feel what we call “guilt.”

It keeps us in check so that we keep our babies alive. It’s that simple.

What isn’t simple is that we as humans feel the need to THINK about the animal experience AND we forget that we are INSIDE OF animals vessels.

Unfortunately, this leads to us creating guilt-shame loops for ourselves rather than simply acknowledging the sensation of “guilt,” checking in to make sure that whatever we are about to do aligns with our personal values and how we want to show up as a person, and then MOVING ON if we are fine! If an adjustment needs to be made, we make it.

It CAN be that simple.

So, the next time you feel a pull that feels all wrapped up in emotion, check in with yourself and do the next right thing.
